About
David Oppenheim is a Creator and Executive Producer of interactive experiences, films and innovation labs.
His productions have been nominated for an Oscar and a Peabody Award (To Kill a Tiger), won multiple Webby awards, Canadian Screen Awards and a Peabody-Facebook Futures of Media Award, and have premiered at major festivals including Venice, Tribeca, Sundance and TIFF.
He is the former Director of the Screen Industries Research and Training Centre (SIRT) at Sheridan College in Toronto. Before joining the SIRT Centre he was a Producer / Creative Producer of films and interactive experiences at the National Film Board of Canada (2014-2022). David’s most recent credits at the NFB included Draw Me Close, Agence, The Book of Distance, Otherly, The Space We Hold and To Kill a Tiger.
David is a documentarian and interactive media-maker with diverse industry experience. Before producing with the NFB, he was Head of Documentary Development and Interactive Producer at Kensington where some of his work included the Scopify mobile app and Diamond Road Online. David was also an Interactive Producer of City Sonic, which premiered at TIFF and launched on mobile, the web, television, and at Toronto’s Nuit Blanche. He has produced and directed for Discovery Health, CBC Newsworld, and TVOntario.
David is a past resident at the Canadian Film Centre’s Media Lab. He is completing his Masters of Design at OCAD University in Toronto.
